What's most frustrating is that the issue I'm referring to doesn't seem to affect the Lync desktop app.
Microsoft lync for mac update#
Search for Update for Lync 2011 and at least you will be able to use it on Mac. Everyone has pointed the finger at each other. I downloaded it and now that part works fine. However, if you ise Lync 2011, there is a fix by Microsoft. When I upgraded, this is when I started having issues. From what I am being told is it is a Lync issue. I have went around the world with this issue. I run Office 365 and Lyn 2013 does not recognize the camera. If I can't join Lync meetings via the Lync Web App, that will hamper when I need to do. This seems to be a problem with the Lync Web App only. Googling suggested that several people had the black box problem on MBPs, but that was for the Lync desktop app, which appears to work fine for me.
Microsoft lync for mac software#
The two boxes have the same software and the same setup, as far as I can tell. So why can't I share video in the Lync Web App on my MBP? I thought perhaps there’s a hardware difference between the cameras on the two boxes which might contribute to the problem, but I don’t know enough to say.

Here's what I've tried: ⁃ Rejoining the meeting ⁃ Completely uninstalling Lync for Mac 2011 and reinstalling version 14.0.7, per ⁃ Replacing the ugin file with a version before Mavericks, per ⁃ Futzing around with the Lync preferences ⁃ Changing my default browser from Safari to Firefox so the Lync Web App uses the latter browser Nothing has worked. I can share audio and video on my iMac in the Lync Web App successfully (there’s an annoying echo problem with the Lync Web App audio on my iMac, but I posted another discussion about that).

But when I share video, I see a black box where the picture should be. I unmute myself and folks can hear me, so audio is working fine. When I click Join Lync Meeting in Outlook, Firefox pops up, I log into Office365, and join the meeting in Lync 2013 Web App just fine. I have Outlook for Mac 2011 and Lync for Mac 2011 installed.

I have Microsoft Office365 though my company.
Microsoft lync for mac how to#
Here’s hoping somebody here can tell me how to resolve this, or tell me definitively that it’s not fixable. They run great, but I can’t share video in Lync 2013 Web App meetings.
Microsoft lync for mac pro#
I have an iMac 27' and a MacBook Pro 15” Retina purchased brand new from Apple in early 2014. Exit Lync for Mac, and then restart Lync for Mac to create a log file. Under Logging, click to select the Turn on logging for troubleshooting check box. To do this, follow these steps: On the Lync menu, click Preferences, and then click General. Turn on logging for troubleshooting in Lync for Mac. (Microsoft’s site says that “some voice capabilities require Lync Server 2010 and are not available with Lync Online.” Doesn’t give specifics though.) Lync for Mac will be included with Office for Mac Standard 2011, via Volume Licensing. As soon as I did this, Lync became much more responsive and I have not had a single crash or 'beach ball of death'! Moral of the story, the Polycom CX600 phone is completely unusable with Lync for Mac.

I had been experiencing this problem for well over a year, when I finally happened to disconnect the USB cable connecting my Mac to my Polycom CX600 desk phone. For Mac users, the conversation history is not saved to the ExchangeĪccount, but instead is saved locally to the Mac.Just a tip for anyone out there experiencing the 'spinning beach ball of death' in Lync (especially when you receive calls and hang up calls).
